Contrast

Highlights and Shadow:
Domino Effect
This photo represents the element of shadow. There are very distinctive shadows that are created by each individual domino. The contrast from the shadow, to the higlighted areas is vast.

Size:
rollie pollie
I chose this photo to represent size. Although all you see are the hands of my brother, they represent a human being that is much larger than the rollie pollie. It looks like he is handling the rollie pollie with such delicate care.

Texture:
The Melting Point of ice.
I think this represents texture pretty well. You can see the gritty-ness of the concrete where it is in focus right beside the ice cube. The melted water has a very smooth and reflective texture to it. You can see the cracks and lines that have formed within the ice cube. I think there is a contrast between the course concrete and the smooth water/ice.

Shape:
Alley
This is a photo of an alley way i stumbled upon in Victoria B.C. I think its a good representation for shape. There are the rectangular patterns of the bricks. There are also different sizes and orientations of bricks. The formation of the arches leads your eyes down the alley way. I think there are some very strong vectors that draw your eyes down the alley.

Color:
Zion
This is a photo I took last weekend in Zion. I think there is a great contrast of color. Typically the red rocks of southern utah represent heat, dryness and desert. The white snow, along with the dark blue water of the virgin river give it a chill. From a warm red-ish orange color of the rocks, to the cold blue of the water. And from the white of the snow to the darker shades of the river bed and the dormant folliage.

Position and Orientation:
Silhouette
I think this photo displays position and orientation. There is lead room created by the silhouette looking down over the city. The positions of the silhouette and the plants are located in the rule of thirds. There is also contrast from the blackness of the silhouettes to the bright lights of the city below.

Pyschological:
The Bay
This is one of my favorite pictures i've ever taken. This was also taken in Victoria. It makes me feel very calm. The water is nearly motionless. The boats are tied down. and there is a contrast from black, through all the grey's till the white of the clouds. I'm not sure if this is what you meant by psychological, but it makes me feel peaceful.

Cultural and Social:

This is another photo from Victoria. This was part of a display in front of one of the shops in downtown. I think it has a social contrast to it. It seems like women are expected to be "sexy" yet there is the constant battle against sexism. It is humorous to me that there is a message to stop sexism right above the clevage of a doll.

Get The Glass

I think that Get The Glass was a very cool game. The Design of it was phenomenal for simply being a game that is playable by anyone with Internet access. The communication of the game is great, it's very intuitive and informational. The overall design of the game is phenomenal. I Liked how they started with poor health. Such as the one female having poor quality of hair, and how it falls out. Once you win the game it tells you how they all improved their overall health. and they were able to do this by drinking the milk that was in the glass at the end of the game. Artistically this game's animation was phenomenal. It reminded me a lot of "The Incredible's" and other 3D animation movies by Pixar. I love how they still apply elements of photography even to animation such as Depth of Field, Contrast, Vectors and Shadows. Overall the game was very entertaining and I think I might have learned some new stuff about milk.

This is a sunrise in St. George Utah. I did this on the 26th of November 2008. I was hoping for a much more colorful sky, because it's rare for us to see clouds here. But The clouds were to thick and limited the light and therefor the colors that were present.
